All it took was a year to change your outlook. Go away for a year and once you return, not only will their appearance change, but their words will tell the outcome of such year. Who can guess the amount of wear and tear a person will take in a year. Smiles turn into frowns. Happiness turn into bitterness and all it took was a year. So if you dare leave someone for a year and find them in the same exact spot, not only will their eyes show their tears of that year, but their voice, and smile will resonate the sound of such year. He has let negativity brainwash his mind, and thus his smile doesn't shine.
